An order of protection granted by the court:
  1. (a)Is effective for a fixed period of time, which is up to a maximum of 6 months; and
  2. (b)May be extended for good cause upon motion of the petitioner for an additional period of up to 6 months each time a petition is presented. A petitioner may request as many extensions as necessary provided that the court determines that good cause exists.
