25 CFR §170.401

Except as provided in § 170.402, the functions and activities that BIA and/or FHWA must perform for the TTP transportation planning are:
  1. (a)Reviewing, and approving the TTPTIP as well as providing technical assistance to the Tribes during the development of their TTIP or Priority List:
  2. (b)Oversight of the NTTFI;
  3. (c)Performing quality assurance and validation of NTTFI data updates as needed;
  4. (d)Coordinating with States and their political subdivisions and appropriate planning authorities on regionally significant TTP projects;
  5. (e)Providing technical assistance to Tribal governments;
  6. (f)Developing TTP budgets;
  7. (g)Facilitating public involvement;
  8. (h)Participating in transportation planning and other transportation-related meetings;
  9. (i)Performing quality assurance and validation related to performing traffic studies;
  10. (j)Performing preliminary project planning or project identification studies;
  11. (k)Conducting special transportation studies;
  12. (l)Developing short- and long-range transportation plans;
  13. (m)Mapping;
  14. (n)Developing and maintaining management systems;
  15. (o)Performing transportation planning for operational and maintenance facilities; and
  16. (p)Researching rights-of-way documents for project planning.
