  1. (a)The term purchase means an arrangement conveying an ownership interest in real estate to a person in exchange for consideration.
  2. (b)Example: Person A, a foreign person, acquires covered real estate from Person B, a U.S. national, in exchange for land and services. Person A has purchased the covered real estate because the arrangement was predicated on consideration in the form of land and services.
