45 CFR §1330.1

1. (a)The Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program provides grants to establish and support:
   1. (1)The following Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research and Related Projects:
      1. (i)Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research Projects;
      2. (ii)Field-Initiated Projects;
      3. (iii)Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training Projects; and
   2. (2)The following Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research Centers:
      1. (i)Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers;
      2. (ii)Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers.
2. (b)The purpose of the Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program is to plan and conduct research, development, demonstration projects, training, dissemination, and related activities, including international activities, to:
   1. (1)Develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology, that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, education, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, especially individuals with the most severe disabilities; and
   2. (2)Improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. 701 et seq.
