  1. (a)A resident in time out must never be physically prevented from leaving the time out area.
  2. (b)Time out may take place away from the area of activity or from other residents, such as in the resident's room (exclusionary), or in the area of activity or other residents (inclusionary).
  3. (c)Staff must monitor the resident while he or she is in time out.
