46 CFR §184.210

1. (a)Each heater must be so constructed and installed as to prevent contact with combustible materials such as towels and clothing.
2. (b)Each electric space heater must be provided with a thermal cutout to prevent overheating.
3. (c)Each heater element of an electric space heater must be of an enclosed type, and the element case or jacket must be made of a corrosion resistant material.
