  1. (a)The Commandant must accept the measurement of a foreign flag vessel by a foreign country as complying with subpart B of this part if:
    1. (1)The vessel was measured under the terms of the Convention and the foreign country is party to the Convention; or
    2. (2)The Commandant finds that the laws and regulations of that country related to measurement are similar to those of subpart B of this part.
  2. (b)The Commandant may accept the measurement of a foreign flag vessel by a foreign country as complying with subpart C, D, or E of this part if the Commandant finds that the laws and regulations of that country related to measurement are substantially similar to those of subpart C, D, or E, respectively, of this part.
