Use of the FAR clause at 52.217-2 is optional in multi-year contracts authorized by—
  1. (a)40 U.S.C. 581(c)(6) for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fixed equipment in a federally-owned building; and
  2. (b)40 U.S.C. 501(b)(1)(B) for public utility services.
